The model was made of Lily Antique Bedspread Cotton and a number 8 steel crochet hook.
Measures about 12 x 18 inches.
One mat takes about 350 yards of thread.
Abbreviations:
Ch (chain);

tr (treble)-thread over twice, work off 2 lps at a time.
Note:
All bls are made of 5 tr. Ch 3 for large sp. Ch 1 for half sp.
To begin, make a ch approximately 15 inches long.
Row 1: Tr in 5th st from hook, tr in each of next 4 sts of foundation ch, * ch 3, sk 3 sts, tr in each of next 5 sts, repeat from * across 17 times making large sps, ch 8, turn.
Row 2: Tr in 4th tr below (ch 3, tr in next tr, ch 3, sk 2 tr, tr in next tr) twice, * 3 tr over ch below, tr in tr- 1 bl made, ch 3, sk 2 tr, tr in tr, 3 tr over ch, tr in tr-bl made, make 9 sps, repeat from * once, make 1 bl, 1 sp, 1 bl, end with 5 sps, ch 4, turn.
